Paint can be a divisive topic, but it turns out the most popular paint colors across the United States are surprisingly similar. Whether the shade covers a dining room or kitchen cabinetry, homeowners clearly have go-to paint color preferences. So, we’re breaking down the most popular paint colors by state—non-neutrals and neutrals—according to recent data from Behr.

For starters, the most popular non-neutral paints are variations of blue and green. With the rise of biophilic design and a wide desire to bring the outdoors in, the gravitational pull of these color categories isn’t shocking.
While many states reach for a slate blue, like Adirondack Blue, or a soft, cool blue, like Ice Sculpture, a few stand out from the pack as the only states with their respective popular colors. Namely, there’s Delaware with the yellow-white Nice Cream, Maine with the blackened green Dark Everglade, South Carolina with the light blue Offshore Mist, and Wyoming with the gray-blue Teton Blue.
