These Will Be The Hottest Paint Colors For Summer 2024

Spring has finally arrived, and summer will be here before you know it. If you’re considering a summer painting project, it’s never too early to start planning. Whether you’re adding color to a bedroom, powder room, or living room, the options are seemingly endless.

Want to get a head start on making your home feel fresh for the coming season? Not sure where to begin? Here are thirteen colors interior designers predict will be the top paint colors for summer 2024.

Greens

Green is the color of fresh grass and verdant plants. So, it’s easy to see this color trending during the warmer months. After a few seasons of jewel-toned hues, interior designer Kate Dawson tells me green has finally made its long-awaited comeback.

Her picks are Benjamin Moore’s Imperial Gray, which she calls a “beautiful gray-green hue,” along with the brand’s Raindance and Night Train paints.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a darker green, HGTV star and interior designer Shay Holland recommends going with nuanced shades that can pair well with a range of other colors, like Benjamin Moore’s Regent Green, which she says is a deep, almost black tone.

Shades of Peach

Dawson predicts that Pantone’s Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz, will continue its reign in the sunnier months. “It's a great color for all interior design styles! And I'm seeing it more and more—not just in paint colors, but also in rugs, artwork, and wallpaper! So I definitely see a trend using the peachy colors, and even into some of the darker terracotta and persimmon hues.”

Sherwin-Williams SW 6344 Peach Fuzz is a fantastic interpretation of Pantone’s color. However, if you’re looking for something a little more pink than orange, Backdrops’s 36 Hours In Marrakesh is a beautiful, saturated option.

Not sure how to incorporate peach into your home? The designer advises pairing it with grayish-green (like the hue above!). “This is an amazing pair. So keep an eye out—you're going to see this perfect couple all over this summer!”

Blues

Spending time at the beach or sitting poolside? You might fall in love with blues this summer. Holland tells me, “Like a seaside summer vacation, mid-tone blues like Sherwin-Williams Stardew evoke feelings of tranquility and calm. More saturated blues like Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova blend modern and traditional styles while maintaining a serene vibe.”

On the other hand, according to interior designer Amy Switzer, Upward SW 6239, Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year 2024, is a blissful blue that’s great for summer. “Vibrant hues, which we will see throughout the year, can add energy and personality to a space, particularly when used as accents or in small doses.”

However, if you’re looking for an all-season neutral, Switzer suggests going with a deep moody color such as navy blue like Gale Force SW 7605, which looks great paired with warm white tones.

Darker Hues

Dark colors have been popular for a while now and this trend isn’t looking like it will stop when temperatures rise. Holland says that Portola’s Roman clay paint is ideal for creating textured, elegant walls. She especially likes the warm brown hue called Jacket.

Switzer believes warm browns will be big in the coming months. This includes Sherwin-Williams Antiquarian Brown SW 0045. Sherwin-Williams Raisin SW 7630 is another one of her favorites. “Many of my clients are gravitating to the deeper colors and this will instantly create a comfy, cocooning effect.
