Drone designer DJI Mavic has a new flagship model: the 3 Pro. Packing a three-camera photographic complement capped by a 24mm, 20-MP Hasselblad 4/3, the Mavic 3 Pro is designed for shooting pro-level footage.
The additional cameras in the Mavic 3 Pro are both telephoto-lens: 48 MP 70mm for middle distance and 12 MP 166mm for long range. Detail tops out with the Hassy, of course; the high-end optics and digital tech give it 12-bit RAW capability and a dynamic range of up to 12.8 stops, while the Swedish firm’s Natural Colour Solution system aligns captured colors with the quirks of human vision.
Creative options designed into the Mavic 3 Pro unit include the ability to alter focal lengths easily, while its omnidirectional obstacle-sensing feature allows for close-quarters shooting. The new DJI Mavic drone can transmit HD video at up to 15 kilometers — that’s about ten miles — and it can fly for 43 minutes on a full charge.
A Cine version of the Mavic 3 Pro features ProRes 422 capability and a 1 TB SSD.
