Ahead of the Super Bowl, Zillow Group (NASDAQ:Z, ZG) asked Americans which football player they would most like to have as a next-door neighbor. The answer was Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who snagged 12% of the survey’s votes, just topping his teammate Patrick Mahomes who scored 11%. Odell Beckham Jr., wide receiver for the Chiefs’ AFC Championship Game opponent Baltimore Ravens, placed third with 7%.
Kelce was the overwhelming favorite among 18- to 34-year-old women, 26% of whom selected the tight end as their preferred next-door neighbor, compared to 8% of men in that age range. But it was unclear whether Kelce’s appeal was strictly for himself or for the chance of sharing adjacent property with his extremely famous girlfriend – and, seriously folks, do we really need to identify her?
As for having a Super Bowl halftime performer as a next-door neighbor, most Americans wanted Snoop Dogg (12%) – the rapper had particularly strong support from elder millennials ages 35–44 (17%). Jennifer Lopez tied Lady Gaga for second place (11% each), but only 3% of Americans wanted Usher, who is this year’s halftime headliner.
And as for having a football broadcaster next door, Terry Bradshaw (17%) was the preferred celebrity neighbor, especially among those ages 45 and older (21%). Michael Strahan placed second at 13% and Tony Romo ranked third at 9%.
Zillow’s survey also determined 60% of Americans could be friends with a neighbor who actively supports a rival football team, but fewer than half — 46% — would invite a neighbor who roots against their team to their big-game watch party.
As for being the proverbial nosy neighbor, only 12% of Americans admitted to snooping on their big-game party host’s home value online.
