In the spring of 2018, actor and producer Ben Affleck invested heavily in a recent build in Pacific Palisades, dropping very near to $20 million on what was, at the time, a brand-new contemporary trophy estate. This month Affleck put the house back up for sale — he’s seeking $29.95 million at closing.
When the house was listed for sale in 2018, its details enumerated just three bedrooms; the new listing has the accommodations count at seven bedrooms, which makes a lot more sense of a house that has nearly 13,500 sq. ft. to wander over two levels. The house contains nine baths in all.
A then-and-now comparison of the house reveals updates here and there, although a dearth of current images limits assessment; it is doubtful that a full imaginative revision has been conducted. One can spot less dramatic changes, for example the built-in bookshelves that flanked the living room fireplace have replaced the box units that adorned it at the time of the home’s last sale.
Amenities in the home include an L-shaped wet bar and a companion wine room, a Pilates studio which could very easily be converted into a dance studio with the addition of a barre, and the prime amenity: the long rectangle of tree-bordered lawn with a pool and pool house tucked away to one side.
Affleck will be making a cameo appearance in Clerks III. He’s also slated to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash. His upcoming films also include action thriller Hypnotic, and he’s reportedly wrapping up production on an as-yet untitled drama depicting Nike’s pursuit of a promising young basketball player named Michael Jordan. The latter also stars Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Marlon Wayans, and Chris Tucker.
