Kismet, the megayacht custom owned by Flex-N-Gate owner Shahid Khan, sailed onto the open market with a $169 million price tag (€169 million) via Moran Yacht & Ship. The 312-foot motoryacht was built by German yard Lürssen and delivered in 2014.
Kismet’s exterior — those pretty, languid lines — is the work of esteemed Norwegian yacht designer Espen Øino, a frequent Lürssen collaborator whose portfolio also includes yachts Dilbar and Amadea. The former was, briefly, the biggest privately owned motor yacht afloat.
The interiors of Kismet are a fireworks show of materials and craftsmanship details. This, along with superb lighting and a stylized eye for ornament courtesy of nautical interior design firm Reymond Langton, lends the yacht’s living style an Easterly fairy-tale element; the atmosphere on board Kismet is dreamlike. Lifestyle touches include a private observation sleeping platform for starlight slumber.
The various marbles used are unusually fine, while the on board theater features ornate millwork; in one of the lounges, a custom-designed piano bar in polished brass, illuminated wall panel, and ornate brass staircase balustrade are highlights. Other notable spaces include the formal dining room, which can serve 18 and features a fireplace and a carpet and ceiling that echo one another.
The accommodations on Kismet sleep 16, while her onboard recreational options include a spa, winter garden, and a full array of toys and tenders. The vessel is powered by a pair of Caterpillar 3516-C diesels, and cruises at 12 knots with a top speed of 17.
Khan’s net worth is around $7.5 billion, per Forbes.
